🍅 One of my favorite summer time-savers! Instead of spending hours making sauce during the hottest part of the summer, I simply wash, core, and cut up ripe tomatoes, then freeze them until I'm ready. When they thaw, much of the excess water drains away, which means less cooking time and a richer sauce. And here's the best part—you don't have to grow your own tomatoes to preserve them! Supporting your local farmers is a wonderful way to fill your freezer and pantry while keeping your dollars in your community. Know your farmers and support local businesses. Did you know? Tomatoes picked at the "breaker" stage (just starting to change color) will continue to ripen indoors while reducing the chance of splitting, cracking, or being eaten by birds and squirrels. Most of these will be for oven roasted pizza sauce! Yummy!
