Monday Morning Motivation with some CUTE Baby Chickens

Happy Monday Everyone!

I don’t know about you – but my weekend went by crazy fast!  I didn’t really have any major plans, but dang if I didn’t look up and it was Sunday night!

Friday, I picked up 3 of the 6 chickens we’re adding to our flock this spring and they are sooooo stinking cute! In the back we have Ellie Mae, the Cuckoo Maran, and the other two are Buff Orpingtons, Ethel in the middle and Lucy in the front.  I’ve managed to get Lucy and Ethel eating from hand, but Ellie May isn’t so trusting.  They refuse to roost, so they’re sleeping in the nesting boxes, so I’ll have to work on that next week since that’s habit that won’t be good going forward.

For you non chicken folks, I may have lost you…but I swear these little babies have the sweetest personalities and you can’t go wrong with fresh eggs!

Saturday, we hit up the local orchard for some seasonal hard cider – my absolute FAVORITE this time was the spiced peach cider…oh gracious it was SO good. We enjoyed our flight of

ciders with some freshly made salt and pepper pork rinds and fresh apple cinnamon donuts….yummmmmmo!  If you’ve never had fresh pork rinds, you have to try them before you turn  your nose up at them…they are NOT like the ones you have had from the store before.  Anyway….if you live in upstate SC or even southern NC, you owe it to yourself to check our Windy Hill Orchard…it’s worth every single calorie and carb!  They have a really neat set up with a fire pit, picnic tables and as it warms they have pick your own apples and activities for the kids.

My motivation to share this Monday is actually more a lesson in grace than anything else.  If you’re like me, and willing to admit it, you look at folks Insta stories and Facebook posts and think – I wonder how she has time to do it ALL?  Her house (in pictures on social media) always looks clean, her kids always look like they’re having a great time and learning and being fabulous while her pictures with her husband show her always in make up and having a great time.  So here’s the deal…with the exception of the .01% of the population who that may ACTUALLY  be true for…they’re just like you and me.  Would you post from your dirty bathroom or messy kitchen?  Most of us wouldn’t.  Would you take a selfie right now with no makeup, 3rd day of dry shampoo still in your pjs at 12:30?  Probably not.  You post what you want folks to see.  Of course.  That’s how social media works.  (Side Note:  Some folks post all their crazy for the world to see and that is too much for this girl…nobody needs to read your dirty laundry and it’s never okay to bash someone on social media, even if you’re doing it vaguely)

So all of you mommas, wives, single gals out there just getting it done…give yourselves some grace – we’re all on this same road of life together – nobody has it all together all the time.  It’s simply not true.  Prioritize what works in YOUR life for YOUR family.  That will look different from #suzysharesalot on Instagram and that’s ok – everyone is in different seasons of life…moms of littles fight the never ending battle of toys, diapers, food, naps and laundry…newlywed wives are striving for the best wife of the year award on the daily – that is exhausting…single folks trying to work, date, eat, keep a house and have time to hang with friends…who has the hours?  Bottom line – don’t fall for the comparison trap – the enemy uses it to drive a wedge in between you and whatever/whoever you’re battling and he’s good at it.  Don’t let those doubts take one ounce of shine off that crown you wear because you are a daughter of THE KING…and nothing you don’t manage to get done in a day or dust on your mantel will remove you from HIS grace.  And that’s the truth.  All day long!

Have a great Monday!
